You would have liked my father. Ted ("Joe") Lowrie had three passions boot making, drinking beer and the Port Adelaide football club. I grew up in the six o'clock closing era of hotels and often assisted him home. In later years he rode his bike with his kitbag between the handlebars to take home 5 "long neck" beers. The ride home with his affected faculties was always fraught with disaster - like moving kerbs, poles and trees but not once did he ever break a bottle! In the state, he would continually say to me "Son, she's Larry Dooley". This was his manner of expressing that everything in the world was perfect. Needless to say this was not my mother's view of the situation! With much advice and encouragement, I planted my vines in 2000 on a block with a view facing down the Coorong. The vines and myself never tire of the view. Although Ted Lowrie was a beer drinker, I'm sure he would have enjoyed this wine, not only because of the flavours, but more importantly, it would arrive at no cost! If you had to purchase this wine I apologise. Most of the product has been acquired by my friends with meaningless promises to pay....
